I went to Charleston and all I got was some lousy relaxation

In case you didn’t guess from the headline, I went to Charleston, S.C. this past weekend. I’d been before, but I was only 14 or so at the time. My memories from that trip primarily revolved around the city’s history: the forts, the cannons, the homes, the elaborate costumes, the cannons…and the mosquitos (okay, that’s not really history, but I remembered them well). I also recalled sleeping at a bed-and-breakfast on a massive, four-poster canopy bed that was roughly the size of a $1,200 apartment in Uptown New Orleans.

This time was a bit different. I didn’t spend as much time in museums or, for that matter, wearing Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars and loud, ankle-length shorts. This time I whiled away the hours reading books and enjoying the natural scenery. And, man, was the natural scenery something to behold. In honor of said scenery, I present a small collection of my favorite photos from the trip. Enjoy them. Soak them in. Make them your wallpaper. Allow them to take you away to a place where you hear nothing but sound of lapping water, the distant cry of gulls and low buzzing of insects that are slowly draining you of your blood:

My morning reading spot. It will be missed.
